Flue Gas Dampers

Specifications

The design of our flue gas dampers allows for their use in both circular and square cross-section flue ducts, in dimensions specified by the customer. Their construction can be either wafer-style (fitting between flanges) or fully flanged with matching counter flanges, adapting to the given installation requirements. The damper housing and sealing surface are machined to ensure proper fit and tight closure, minimizing any potential flue gas leakage.

The damper structure features thermally isolated bearings, which reduce the mechanical stresses caused by heat expansion and conduction, thereby increasing service life and decreasing maintenance needs. The bearings are made of stainless steel, providing outstanding corrosion resistance. The support structure for connecting an actuator is custom-built according to the client's requirements, with tailored bolt patterns and connection dimensions.

Our dampers are available with either powered actuators or manual operation. We mount actuators according to the customer's specifications, including custom mounting designs and bolt patterns. If preferred, the client can supply their own actuator, which we will install on the damper by prior arrangement. Upon request, we can also procure the actuator and integrate it into the system as a turnkey solution.

Material Selection

  • Boiler and low-temperature applications: Dampers are made from P265GH pressure-rated steel, providing appropriate mechanical strength and operational safety at moderate temperatures.
  • Gas engine systems: Due to higher operating temperatures and acidic condensate conditions, the default material is 1.4571 corrosion-resistant stainless steel, which withstands the chemical effects of flue gases. For dampers exposed to very high heat load, we recommend 1.4841 heat-resistant stainless steel, which offers longer life in extreme temperature environments.
  • Gas turbine applications: We use only 1.4841 heat-resistant stainless steel, as it maintains structural stability and resists oxidation even at continuous operating temperatures above 900 °C.

Our industrial-grade flue gas dampers are essential components for regulating, shutting off, or diverting flue gas flows according to specific process requirements. These devices play a critical role in improving energy efficiency, enhancing system safety, and optimizing environmental emissions control.

Each damper is precisely engineered to meet the specific technical requirements of the given process, considering operating temperature ranges, flue gas composition, pressure conditions, and mechanical loads. Our custom-made solutions are widely applicable in boilers, gas engine systems, gas turbines, and various other industrial applications, ensuring enhanced energy efficiency, increased system safety, and optimized environmental performance.

We provide tailored solutions by carefully selecting appropriate materials, dimensions, and sealing technologies, considering factors such as thermal loads, corrosion resistance, mechanical stresses, and operational reliability. By precisely addressing these parameters, our dampers offer long-term durability and efficient performance even under extreme operational conditions.
